Barbering is one of the oldest professions in the world. Barbering developed from early cultural and tribal beginnings into the recognized profession that it is today. In Eastern College’s barbering program students will practice the latest techniques and explore products specific to this field.
Successful graduates of the Halifax program will be eligible to write the Nova Scotia Registered Barber Association examination. Achieving a passing grade on this exam will allow graduates to practice as registered apprentice barbers.

Eastern College provides a comprehensive, learner-centered, training program for Pharmacy Technicians in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Graduates of the program will walk away with in-depth knowledge of the role and the skillset required to work within this dynamic profession with its expanding scope of practice. Pharmacy technicians function as valued members of the health care team; they develop professional relationships with patients and their caregivers, work collaboratively with other health care providers, prepare, dispense and compound medications, manage inventory, perform administrative tasks and assist in the provision of pharmaceutical care. They work primarily in retail, hospital, long-term care facilities. The pharmacy technician profession is regulated in some provinces, and our program adheres to standards set by Canadian Council for the Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs, helping to ensure that our graduates get the education necessary to meet the entry to practice competency requirements developed by regulators for pharmacy technicians across Canada. The Pharmacy Technician Program of Eastern College Halifax Campus has been awarded the status of Provisional Accreditation by the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs for a two year term January 1, 2015 – December 31, 2016. Would you like to be responsible for the daily rehabilitation of others? Occupational Therapy & Physical Therapy Assistant graduates from Eastern College will play a critical role in assisting occupational therapists and physiotherapists with treatment plans for aging populations and those recovering from surgery or chronic conditions. In the workplace, you’ll be responsible for aiding clients in their treatment plan, monitoring their progress, and discussing each individual’s development with the therapist to help patients better their way of life. Graduates will meet the standards of the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists and the Canadian Physiotherapy Association through a combination of theoretical study and hands-on workplace practicums.
